Nileena Philip, MD, joined the Optum-East team in March of 2020. Dr. Philip earned her medical degree from Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Center in Kerala, India, followed by an Internal Medicine residency at St. Mary’s Hospital in St. Louis Missouri and a patient safety fellowship at the University of Florida Health in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Philip is passionate about providing the best patient care possible with an emphasis on patient safety and quality and sustainable health outcomes. When Dr. Philip is not seeing patients, she enjoys travel, camping, nature walks, reading, self-help, music, cozy time with family and friends.

7/21/2023 She remembers who I am from visit to visit, and coordinates with at least some of the specialists I see (though the incompatible patient portals and other electronic barriers makes this very difficult). She is very timely with providing referrals and following up afterwards. I feel that she tryly cares about my health and is a competent doctor.
7/8/2023 Nileena is kind and I appreciate that but again nothing feels consistent. I’m tired of coming in and being questioned over and over every time about how illness has physically disabled me. I don’t need to prove how sick I am to anyone. Looking at my extensive history should be enough to recognize there is significant need for care and to believe the patient. I don’t enjoy needing mobility aids to get around but being questioned about them every time is humiliating and traumatizing. By age [omitted] I’d already almost died several times so the medical trauma I carry is immeasurable. Nileena is competent and intelligent and I appreciate her kindness. I don’t necessarily think what I experience is her fault but rather the fault of How appts are scheduled and managed. God forbid the call center put the wrong code on an appt leaving the patient to have to reschedule because “this wasn’t what the scheduler put on the appt for you”. It’s tedious and ridiculous.
